die größte Börse der Welt wurde im Jahre 1792 gegründet, wobei sie seit 1817 als feste Organisation besteht. Als nationale Wertpapierbörse wurde sie am 1.10.1934 durch die U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) eingetragen.
- Der Handel erfolgt über Zuruf der Dealer und Broker auf dem Parkett. Zutritt haben nur Mitglieder und Angestellte. Die Mitgliedschaft ist durch die SEC streng reglementiert, ein Sitz muss erworben werden, freiwerdende Sitze werden dem Meistbietenden verkauft. An der Spitze der NYSE steht der Board of Gouvernors bestehend aus gewählten Mitgliedern, dieser wählt dann den chairman und den Präsidenten. Aufgabe der NYSE ist die Schaffung eines Beitrages zur Wertsteigerung von Kapitalaufnahme- und Vemögensmanagementprozessen durch Bereitstellung des kostengünstigsten selbstregulierenden Handelsplatzes für den Handel mit Finanzinstrumenten.
